Finding a family doctor can be difficult, and when you finally get accepted by one, you may feel like you have no choice but to stay—especially with the shortage of doctors. I met Dr. Spearling during the COVID era, when it was extremely difficult to find a family doctor, so I felt fortunate at first. But I’ve learned the hard way that we do have a choice, and we should never have to endure poor medical care simply because options feel limited. My experience with Dr. Spearling raised serious concerns. While appointments lasted hours, they were often filled with unnecessary personal stories rather than focused medical guidance. Long wait times, frequent cancellations, and rescheduling made visits unpredictable. The doctor often shared that he was going through personal struggles and health issues but continued working because many people needed his help. While I appreciate his dedication, patients also deserve reliable care and attention. One of my biggest concerns was the way ADHD medication was prescribed so easily. The doctor frequently mentioned how many people come to him for ADHD treatment and how simple it is to get stimulants. The diagnosis itself was based solely on a questionnaire with questions like, "Do you have difficulty concentrating?" or "How easily are you distracted?"—but no consideration was given to how many hours I slept, how many jobs I worked, or the fact that I speak multiple languages, all of which naturally affect focus. I trusted my doctor and took Vyvanse, only to later find out that I don’t actually have ADHD—and taking the medication unnecessarily posed serious health risks. Looking back, I can’t help but wonder whether this relaxed approach to prescribing contributed to the challenges I faced—including possible effects on my pregnancy. Unfortunately, my pregnancy ended in miscarriage. While doctors say no one can predict the exact cause, I can’t help but wonder if better medical attention, clearer guidance on medication safety, and timely check-ups could have made a difference. At the very least, I deserved informed care and answers. I also realize now that blindly trusting a doctor isn’t always the best approach. Medical advice should be carefully considered, and patients should take an active role in evaluating their own health decisions. I am not sharing this out of personal resentment—I genuinely feel sorry for the struggles my doctor faces. However, I also feel sorry for my health, because I deserved better attention, informed care, and a doctor who prioritized my well-being. I share this because I want others to know: you can and should advocate for your health. You deserve a doctor who listens, respects your concerns, and provides the best possible care. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it. Seek second opinions, ask questions, and don’t settle for treatment that makes you uncomfortable. Your health matters, and you always have a choice!

Excellent doctor!!! Honestly, I can’t get a better one than him. He will spend more time with each patient, to give proper care! So, who cares if you end up waiting to see him!! And, he keeps up to date, as well, going to medical conferences. And doing research online for individual patients. I’m a multi-illness patient; he takes care of everything. And keeps up to date. Anyone who has him is very fortunate.
