The Canadian Immigrant magazine’s mission is to “inform, educate and motivate” Canadian immigrants, so editorial copy must fall within these broad ideals. Canadian Immigrant uses Canadian Press style as a guideline for written content. The Canadian Oxford Dictionary as well as the CP Stylebook and CP Caps and Spelling are our reference guides. Editorial copy must meet the highest journalistic standards and the mandate of objectivity and fairness. The writer must be aware of cultural sensitivities and shall not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, culture or sex. Opinions and comment can be expressed in editorials, columns, letters and sections. However, they cannot be used for promotional purposes, as judged by the editor.
