TESTIMONY AT ALPINE TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING When I came to Alpine Truck Driver Training College in the process of searching for a very good accredited school I could do my Tractor-Trailer Driver training under the Second Career Program, the first strong impression I had about the school was the professional setting of the reception which had an overwhelming display of many transport industry-specific magazines and newspapers that cover any subject regarding the transport industry. Beside the reception office is the computer room with a couple of desktop computers which I later learnt to be met for intensive theoretical aspect of the Tractor-Trailer Driving program. With this impression in my mind, I met the CEO Mr. Jack Lochand in his office. Jack has a very accessible, disciplined, friendly, humble, patient, ambitious, positive-minded and a perfection-driven personality who has the capability of turning things around. After Jack took time to explain the program to me, he led me on a tour around the training facility which ranges from the computer room with a number of computers, a class room with a large video equipment which I later knew to be a room met for classes and job presentations on one hand and Pre-Trip inspection video on the other hand, the simulator workshop which is fully equipped with mini tractor-trailers as tools for the students to practice straight backing as well as backing into a parking lane on daily basis, to the driver cab compartments where students have to learn the standard gear shifting techniques. The workshop also hosts a Tractor which students use daily for Pre-trip inspection practice. Jack further took me to an expansive area behind the workshop where there is a clean training Tractor-Trailer with which the students actually put into driving practice all the theoretical and workshop-based knowledge. After Jack has taken me round the whole training facility, one thing I eventually learnt which blew my mind away is that, there is a progressive Tractor-Trailer driving training program from the theoretical phase to the workshop phase and then finally to the actual driving. I also learnt that the school has a history of a very small class of 3-5 students which boosts teacher-student relationship. As someone who came under the second career program, I virtually knew nothing about Tractor-Trailer driving and was always intimidated by the large size of the vehicle. But after Jack and his other professional instructors were done taking me through the three phases of comprehensive driving training program, all my fear about the vehicle size and its driving techniques disappeared. Today I am confident to state here that driving a Tractor-Trailer without any flaws in pre-trip inspection, gear shifting, coupling and uncoupling, and backing into a dock has become my second nature. I want to use this opportunity to advise those who may be interested in the Tractor-Trailer Driving career that a choice of Alpine Truck Driver Training school for your training would be one of the best choices you would make in your lifetime. Jack, thank you so much for all the efforts you put in taking out all the “Bugs” to ensure that all the Tractor-Trailer driving techniques were fully embedded in the brain of someone like me who virtually had no iota of knowledge of a Tractor-Trailer driving in addition to being scared to death by the giant size of the vehicle.
