I began researching my family tree some years ago and discovered many hundreds of pictures of my ancestors. As might be expected, many of the images were in poor condition. At first I figured there was very little I could do about it other than bring them to a photo studio and get them restored. I figured this might be costly though and began researching how I might be able to do it myself. What followed was a wonderful journey into the world of photo restoration and retouching. Many years and thousands of photo restorations later, my family history is near complete and a hobby has turned into a passion.

I decided to start the PhotoMender.com mainly for two reasons. First it would allow me to spend time doing something I truly love and second it would give me an opportunity help others feel the joy of seeing a restored image come to life.

Over the years technology has improved to the point that one can do some level of restoration on their own using various free or paid tools available in the marketplace. My experience has been that most people don't have the time to invest  in the often steep learning curve required by most of these programs and that users quickly get stuck when they run into an problem that has no quick fix.

Thankfully photo restoration services are not be as expensive as they once were, at least not at ThePhotoMender.com. My philosophy is that, in terms of cost, you shouldn't have to mortgage your future in order to preserve your past or put another way it shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg to add one to a photo. Our primary goal is to provide quality photo restoration and retouching services at reasonable prices.
