Why is dry cleaning so effective

2020.04.06

It can be tough to remove stains on fibres and textiles (carpets, rugs, mats, furniture, etc.). Indeed, who has never tried every possible trick to get rid of an oil or grease stain? That being said, have you ever considered dry cleaning? What is it exactly? What are the benefits of this cleaning method? Here’s a bit more information to consider.

What is dry cleaning?

Dry cleaning is the best method for cleaning the different textiles found in your carpets and furniture (wool, silk, cotton, synthetic fibres, etc.). It combines a low humidity level with a cleaning product. This process is effective on rugs, carpets, mats, and even sofas, loveseats, armchairs, chairs and other upholstered furniture. Why do we use the word “dry”? Simply because a low level of humidity is used, combined with our unique cleanser.  This results in a faster evaporation rate, reducing the drying time significantly.

Dry cleaning depends on the use of machines, just like any other cleaning method for  carpets and furniture. These machines have special features that make them unique; so do the cleansers, that can be found in liquid, vapor, foam or solid (powder) form.

Why choose dry cleaning?

We all know how washing machines work with soapy water, and we are also aware that this technic has some flaws, especially when it comes to removing grease or oil stains. Furthermore, this type of washing leads to the deterioration of natural fibres like wool and silk (shrinking, swelling, discoloration). Air drying can also take considerable time.

When you take these facts into consideration, it’s probably a good idea to dry clean your carpets, rugs, mats, sofas, loveseats, chairs and other furniture. This method preserves the original state of textile fibres without deforming the fabric or altering the colour. Dry cleaning revives the colours considerably, and the fact that we comb the carpet after cleaning it straightens the fibres and returns them to their original appearance. You can walk on your carpet, rug and mat at any time. An important thing to note is that the average drying time is approximately 1 hour after cleaning. Basically, drying is almost instantaneous.

All these advantages make it best to dry clean carpets, rugs, mats and fabric-covered furniture such as sofas, loveseats, armchairs and chairs.
