Xray

2022.05.27

If you require an Xray, Insight Medical Imaging offers walk-in services at Xray Alberta locations. To avoid possible wait times, we encourage you to visit our dedicated Xray Alberta imaging facilities in Edmonton: Callingwood, Calgary Trail, and Capilano. We also have extended hours at various clinics dedicated to Xray Alberta imaging if you are unable to take time off work or have rigid daily commitments. Xray uses ionizing radiation to create images of the skeletal system. Conventional Xray images are produced when radiation is passed through a body part and measured by a detector on the other side of the patient.

Computed Tomography

2022.05.02

A computed tomography scan produces incredibly detailed, cross-sectional images of your body for a more accurate assessment of your internal tissues and organs. The computed tomography procedure uses computer processing to generate 3-D images from X-rays taken in a helical fashion around your body. These individual cross-sectional images are often referred to as “slices” and are particularly useful when examining soft tissue and blood vessels. Occasionally, iodinated contrast (X-ray dye) is used to enhance computed tomography image detail. Our radiologist will determine if the contrast is needed; if so, it will be injected intravenously through the arm.

Nuclear medicine

2021.12.22

Nuclear medicine uses small amounts of radio-pharmaceutical that is injected and then used to provide an image of an organ system or a specific part of the body. Nuclear medicine Imaging is performed with a special camera known as a gamma camera. After the injection, imaging is sometimes performed immediately. Other nuclear medicine studies require delayed imaging after a few hours or even overnight. You will be instructed about the specifics during the imaging process itself. Depending on your exam, you may require some preparation. Our customer service expert radiologists at Insight Medical Imaging are here to ensure you are prepared and comfortable for your nuclear medicine exam.

Diagnostic imaging

2021.11.17

Diagnostic imaging has made it so we can diagnose many illnesses faster than ever before. What diagnostic imaging refers to is the variety of non-invasive methods of taking a good look inside the human body to figure out the exact cause of injury or illness. Your health care provider will use diagnostic imaging to see how your body is reacting to treatment for illness or fracture or to confirm a diagnosis.

ECG

2021.10.18

An ECG test is a non-invasive procedure that records the electrical activity of the heart at rest. Insight Medical Imaging offers ECG exams on a walk-in basis at most of our locations across Alberta. All ECG exams require a doctor’s requisition, Alberta Health Care card, and photo identification. ECG tests can be used to assess heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure, and other symptoms such as palpitation or chest pain.

Ultrasound

2021.09.28

Ultrasound imaging, or diagnostic sonography, is offered at all our Insight Medical Imagining locations through Alberta. Using non-invasive sound waves instead of radiation, Ultrasound imagining is used to assess body structures. A sonographer uses an ultrasound transducer to generate sound waves that detect echoes produced in the body. A computer interprets the echo and provided detailed images for the radiologist, who will review the results and send a detailed report to your doctor.

Bone density test

2021.05.10

A bone density test uses a very low-dose X-ray machine that evaluates bone loss commonly associated with osteopenia or osteoporosis. The bone density test uses two low-energy X-ray beams to examine the strength of your bones, identify potential fracture risk, and evaluate the efficacy of therapy. A bone density test is most commonly performed on the lumbar spine, hip, and forearm, as these bones have been shown to generate the most reliable measurements for predicting fractures and monitoring treatment. Visit Insight Medical Imaging today for our bone density test services.

MRI

2021.03.12

Insight Medical Imaging offers reasonably priced MRI exams. MRI diagnostic imaging uses electromagnetic fields to produce images. Using radio frequencies, magnetic fields and computers Insight Medical Imaging can produce cross-sectional images of the soft tissues in the body. These images can aid in the diagnosis of medical conditions. Due to the electromagnetic fields, consult with your doctor or MRI technologist to determine if MRI examinations are safe for you.
