Mary MacPhee, Charlottetown 620-8337 Mary (B. ED, B. M., daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend). Mary started her career teaching French Immersion and after 10 years decided to stay home to raise her children. “She has since 2003, as full time mom and part-time yogini, been developing her business YOGA FOR LIFE “. In the fall 2007 Mary opened a studio where a multitude of yoga classes, styles and teachings as well as rental space can be available to help promote healthy individuals, families and communities. Mary’s yoga story began in 1997 when she began the practice of Ashtanga vinyasa (power) yoga, she then developed an appreciation and practice of Kripalu yoga, a gentler style. Mary benefited so much from yoga on so many levels that she decided she wanted to share this amazing science with others. She pursued 2 years of full time yoga teacher training study in Calgary at the Yoga Centre of Calgary (2000-2002), where she had the opportunity to supplement her training with specialization in yoga for backs, pre and post natal and therapeutic yoga. Mary’s yoga teaching has also been influenced by her practice of Iyengar and Viniyoga. Her focus on anatomy and individualizing the practice comes from her studies with Mukunda Tom Stiles and his training in Structural Yoga Therapy as well as several other influential teachers. Mary continues to practice and teach yoga as a vehicle to NURTURE THE SELF & NURTURE THE SPIRIT. Yoga is much more than poses- it’s a way of living your life skillfully, awakened, in love with life.
