completed my undergraduate studies at Vanier College and McGill University in Montreal following which I attended medical school at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario where I graduated in 1981 (oh my, so very long ago). I then did internal medicine specialty training at at the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario. I've been in specialty practice in the Greater Toronto Area since 1985. I serve as Vice-Chair, Clinical, of the Canadian Diabetes Association Clinical and Scientific Section. I was previously head of the Dissemination & Implementation Committee for the CDA 2008 Clinical Practice Guidelines. Because many people have asked me about our dissemination and implementation strategies, including how they came to be, what challenges we faced, what successes we had, and so forth, I have written a summary of our process. This document is available here. Dr. Blumer is highly praised by many for his expertise in managing diabetes and other chronic illnesses.
